Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred Communication
679, regarding Resolution 342-07, reports as follows:
Resolution 342-07, transmitted by Council Member J Yoshimoto, via Communication No. 679, dated
September 17, 2007, amends Council Rule 6, Standing Committees, to create a Committee on Energy
Sustainability; and Rule 28, to make minor formatting corrections and to correct the District Allowance
Expense and Contingency Relief amounts to reflect the recent increase. Also being transmitted by Council
Member Yoshimoto, via Communication 679.2, dated October 3, 2007, is a proposed amendment to
Resolution 342-07, which would change the title of the Committee to Committee on Food and Energy
Sustainability.
County Clerk Casey Jarman stated that there will be impacts to staff if a new Committee is to be added, and
also stated that no hiring of new employees is needed. County Council Chairman Pete Hoffmann stated that
there is a process of electing the new Chair for this proposed Committee, and discussion could occur at that
time.
Councilmember J Yoshimoto made a motion on October 2, 2007 to postpone the consideration of
Resolution 342-07 until October 16, 2007. This motion was duly seconded and approved.
Your Committee heard testimony from the public, and all members of the public spoke in support of this
resolution.
Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Resolution No. 342-07 as amended to Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
