SAFE COMMUNITY HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM
FINAL REPORT
PROJECT TITLE:HCPD TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION PROGRAM/PT07-O1 (03-H-O1)
Priority Area: I Area: Alcohol Countermeasures
The goal of this project is to improve speed and alcohol related fatal traffic crash
investigations, prosecution efforts and conviction rates by obtaining training and
equipment.
1. Four (4) Traffic Enforcement Unit officers to attend the following course:
• Visual Statement Advanced Diagramming Course
GRANT PERIOD RESULTS:
(FINAL REPORT)
• Three Traffic Enforcement Unit Officers attended the Visual Statement Computer
Diagramming Course on Maui.
The following courses have also been completed by Big Island Officers and funded
through other sources:
One Officer attended a one week Intoxilyzer Repair and Maintenance Course sponsored
by the State Department of Health.
One Officer attended a two week Intoxilyzer Supervisor Course.
Two Officers attended the Inspection and Investigation of Commercial Motor Vehicles,
Level One Training, sponsored by the Department of Transportation.
The training objectives of this grant period were met however, we were not able to
purchases the computer software for Visual Statement due to the high cost. Funds in this
grant were insufficient due to the cost of training.
