Dear Chairman Hoffmann and Council Members: -
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the Hawai'i County Fire Board of Appeals:
Melvyn Aila is a 60-year resident of Hawai'i. He moved to the Big Island in 2006, after retiring from
Tripler Army Hospital where he was employed as an x-ray technologist from 1979 to 2005. Mr. Aila states
that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to end on
December 31, 2008.
Rudy Hart is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. Since 1984, he has served as a member of several Hawai'i
County commissions including Water, Liquor, Emergency Medical Service, Fire, and Liquor Adjudication.
Mr. Hart states that he is a Democrat. If confirmed, he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2010.
Edgar Ombac "Eddie O" is a 14-year resident of Hawaii. He is a member and past president of the Big
Island Association of Nurserymen, a member and past vice president of Waiakeawanea PTA, and a
former coach at Keaau High School. Mr. Ombac states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2011.
Terry Wallace is a 42-year resident of Hawai'i. He retired from the San Francisco Fire Department
in 1985. Mr. Wallace served as a member of the Hawai'i County Fire Commission from 2001 to 2003. He
states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to end on
December 31, 2008.
