Subject: Support Bill 175 To Create Two Planning Commissions
Aloha, County Council members:
I am writing in support of Bill 175, Draft 3 which would initiate a charter amendment to article VI, Chapter 4 of
the Hawai'I County Charter.
As a member of the Kona Community Development Plan steering committee (but not speaking as a
representative of that group), I support the idea of splitting the current planning commission in two with the idea
that, as the regional CDPs are completed, there will be even more localized planning commissions for each
region. This, it is hoped, will increase the responsiveness necessary to insure that regional CDPs and other GP
guidelines are followed to suit the wishes of the residents of those island regions.
