RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE
THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR THREE (3) OPEN TOP REFUSE TRAILERS
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other obligation requiring
payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, currently in place at the County transfer stations are 75 cubic yard refuse trailers which require its waste
to be compacted to insure full capacity usage; and
WHEREAS, there are several County transfer stations which can accommodate a refuse trailer, where waste can be
deposited along the length of the trailer without any waste compaction; and
WHEREAS, acquiring open top refuse trailers, with 102 cubic yard capacity and the ability to carry a heavier load of
approximately 20 tons, would result in a lower frequency of refuse trailers being brought to the landfills to deposit their
waste; thus reducing fuel and maintenance costs and road congestion on public highways; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into a five (5) year contract to lease with purchase options for three (3) open
top refuse trailers for solid waste operations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Mayor is hereby
authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease agreement with purchase options for the acquisition of three (3) open top
refuse trailers for solid waste operations and that sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated
obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk transmit copies of this resolution to the Mayor's Office and the
Departments of Finance and Environmental Management.
