Dear Chairman Hoffmann and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to inform you that I have nominated the following individuals to the
County of Hawaii Kailua Village Design Commission:
Council District 8 - Fritz Harris-Glade is a 14-year resident of Hawaii. Since 2004,
Mr. Harris-Glade has been employed as the Director of Development of Maryl Group
Inc. Prior to that, he was a project manager at Hualalai Development. Mr. Harris-Glade
states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term
to expire on December 31, 2009.
Council District 7 -Ann Kern is a 10-year resident of Hawai'i. She is a lecturer and
coordinator at the University of Hawai'i Center- West Hawai'i. Ms. Kern is also the
director of publications and archives at Kulana Huli Honua. She is a member of the
Aloha Performing Arts Company, a member of the Kona Chapter of the American
Association of University Women and a Walking Tour Docent and Coordinator at the
Kona Historical Society, Kailua Village. Ms. Kern states that she is not affiliated with
any political party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2009.
Council District 7 - Gregory Ogin is a 27-year resident of Hawaii. Since 1996, he has
been a realtor with Clark Realty Corporation. Mr. Ogin is a past chairman and board
member of the Kona Family YMCA, a past member of the State of Hawai'i Disciplinary
Board, and a past president of both the Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. He is
also a former member of this commission. Mr. Ogin states that he is a Democrat. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2009.

Council District 8 - Paul Bieck is a 19-year resident of Hawaii. He is a self-employed
architect, and also a former member of this commission. Mr. Bieck states that he is not
affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on
December 31, 2010
Council District 7 - Cindy Coats has lived in Hawaii for 11 years. Ms. Coats is a
self-employed artist-designer, and she is also the artist-in-residence at the Hilo Hattie
Store in Kona. Ms. Coats states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2010.
