It is my understanding that the Council is to discuss the formation of an ad hoc committee and selection of its members at tomorrow's meeting of the Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations Committee of the Hawaii County Council. The Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers encourages the inclusion of technical experts in any decisions regarding additional legislation dealing with engineering matters including drainage and flood control. As such, The Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers, Kona-Kohala Chapter, would like to extend our support to you and your department regarding review of Bill 151. Many of our members have been actively following Bill 51 and l51 and are very familiar with the issues. We would like the opportunity to help formulate policy and regulations based on sound engineering principles and valid technical data.
