To Whom It May Concern:
I respectfully request your help in getting the attached letter of testimony re approval
of a subdivision proposal at the Volcano Golf and Country Club to the appropriate
committee.
I understand that there may be two hearings in December regarding this matter. If you
could let me know the dates and times of these hearings I will make every effort to be
there.
If there is anything further I need to do in this regard, please feel free to call or
respond to this email.
Mahalo in advance for your assistance.
With Aloha,
Stew

May I ask a favor? I'm in Oahu for the next few days taking appraisal seminars. I have
attached a revised letter re the Volcano subdivision approval process. Our letter
1
contains the stipulation I suggested to you regarding completion of a new emergency
roadway prior to close of escrow on the sale of more than 50% of the new lots.
I don't know when the next hearings are to be held--but someone had indicated they were to
be in December.
Would you be kind enough to drop the letter off to the Clerk's office so it can be
directed to the appropriate department and entered into the record prior to the hearing
dates? If I am in Hilo when the hearings occur, I would be happy to make a direct.
statement confirming our request in the letter.
Again thanks for your help. I hope this gets us over the hurdle in creating a new
emergency road!
With Aloha,
Stew

Re: Application to Extend Subdivision Permit on Volcano Golf Course
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is to express our support for approval of the applicant's request for an extension
of time to complete development of the latest subdivision increment on the Volcano Golf
Course-with one condition.
We are concerned about the marginal to poor communications by the developer with the
residents and Golf Course management in the development of this subdivision. In 2006
bulldozers appeared without notice and raised a storm of dust that covered neighboring homes
daily. Water trucks were not used to mitigate the dust storms. Trees were cut down on golf
course property outside the subdivision to enhance new lot view planes. To the best of my
knowledge, this was done without the permission of the Golf Course operators.
In view of this history, we respectfully request the County's concurrence in mandating the
following condition as part of the approval of this request:
That the developer identify, obtain legal approval for and construct a new emergency
roadway to and from the Volcano Golf & Country Club development PRIOR TO CLOSE
OF ESCROW ON MORE THAN 50% OF THE NEWLY CREATED LOTS. This would
solve a long-standing problem created in the initial subdivision development that this
administration has attempted to solve in good faith for several years.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
