RESOLUTION NO. 459 08
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL
YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR AMULTI-YEAR LEASE OF
A DIGITAL MAILING SYSTEM (POSTAGE MACHINE) FOR THE OFFICE OF THE
COUNTY CLERK-REPROGRAPHIC DIVISION
WHEREAS, Article X, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract,
lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year
or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the current postage machine, which is located in the Office of the County
Clerk-Reprographic Division, has been in operations for over seven years and is obsolete; and
WHEREAS, the Reprographic Division will need to replace the existing machine due to
U. S. Post Office regulation in 2008; and
WHEREAS, the monthly lease payment of a new digital mailing system should be
approximately $500 per month and a request for purchase will be forwarded to the Purchasing
Division; and
WHEREAS, the Reprographics account (Account No. 010.101.5101.21) for the current
fiscal year contains sufficient funds for the lease of the digital mailing system; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That in accordance with Article X, Section 10-11 of the County Charter,
the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease
agreement for a digital mailing system (postage machine) for the Office of
the County Clerk-Reprographic Division.
2. That sufficient funds are budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the
anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk transmits copies of this resolution
to the Director of Finance and the Office of the County Clerk.
