Your Committee on Environmental Management, to which was referred Resolution No. 356-07.
reports as follows:
Resolution No. 356-07, transmitted by Envirorunental Management Committee Chair Bob
Jacobson, via Communication No.707, dated October 3, 2007, that was postponed on
October 16, 2007 in your Environmental Committee Meeting.
The purpose of this resolution is to adopt and embrace the principles of zero waste as a long term
goal for Hawaii County. Amendments proposed in communication 707.1 by Council Member
Jacobson were approved at this meeting along with a friendly amendment to correct tonnage
amounts in the first WHEREAS clause.
Your Committee on Environmental Management is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Resolution No.356-07, as amended to Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
