Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 428-07, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 428-07, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 206 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 823, dated November 19, 2007, accepting a monetary
donation in the amount of $4,647 from HFM FBO PruTimber Fund Three, located in Vancover,
Washington. HFM FBO PruTimber Fund Three is engaged in the business of timberland
management in the North Hilo region of the Big Island of Hawaii, and is donating the monies to
enhance the fire suppression capabilities of the volunteer fire companies in the area. The
Laupahoehoe and Pa`auilo Volunteer Fire companies will equally share these funds that have
been designated to purchase fire suppression equipment and supplies.
Pursuant to Article 13, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council,
on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the HFM FBO PruTimber Fund Three, c/o Hancock
Forest Management, 17700 SE Mill Plain Blvd., Suite 180, Vancouver, Washington 98683,
acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 428-07,
and recommends its adoption.
