A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Committee on the Status of Women is a program sponsored by the
Office of the Mayor; and
WHEREAS, "Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conferences" is a
project organized and planned by the Committee on the Status of Women; and
WHEREAS, the goal of Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conferences
is to increase awareness of the illegal and harmful social effects of teen dating violence and to
advocate for abolishing its prevalence and cultural acceptance among teens; and
WHEREAS, as the result of the Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education
Conference held in East Hawaii and West Hawaii on October 18 and 19, 2007, over 1,300
emails were received by conference speaker Dr. Jill Murray, from teens and adults requesting
advice and information; and
WHEREAS, responses to Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conferences
have been overwhelming and demonstrate the need for ongoing education and follow-up conferences
and presentations throughout Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the
Oftce of the Mayor for the Committee on the Status of Women's Teen Dating Violence Prevention
Peer Education Conferences program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai' i shall
forward a copy of this resolution to the Mayor and the Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
