RESOLUTION NO. 470 08
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO
MULTI-YEAR CONTRACTS FOR ELECTRONIC AND PRINTED LEGAL RESEARCH
FOR THE OFFICE OF THE CORPORATION COUNSEL
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the Hawaii County Charter requires that any contract,
lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal yeaz
or more than one fiscal yeaz be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into multi-yeaz contracts with electronic and
printed legal reseazch providers for the Office of the Corporation Counsel; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Corporation Counsel has been able to negotiate favorable
rates for multi-yeaz contracts which has resulted in further savings to the County; and
WHEREAS, this legal reseazching capability has been used to assist all County
departments, is shared with the Council staff, and is a requirement in today's legal environment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii
hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into multi-yeaz contracts to provide electronic and printed
legal research services for the Office of the Corporation Counsel.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to (1) the Honorable Harry Kim, Mayor of the County of Hawaii; (2) William
Takaba, Director of Finance; and (3) Gerald Takase, Assistant Corporation Counsel.
