RESOLUTION NO. 466 OS
A RESOLUTION TO AMEND SALARY ORDINANCE N0.07-76 BY
AMENDING SECTION 3 RATES OF COMPENSATION, DELETING THE
EXECUTIVE PAY PLAN, AND AMENDING SECTION 7.02(A) BY
ESTABLISHING PAY RATES FOR THE COUNTY PHYSICIANS.
WHEREAS, Section 3-13, Hawaii County Charter provides for interim amendments to the
Salary Ordinance to be made by resolution; and
WHEREAS, Salary Ordinance 07-76 establishes a pay plan for persons employed by the
County other that those whose pay is otherwise provided for; and
WHEREAS, Section 3 of Salary Ordinance 07-76 sets the executive pay plan covering
appointive executive/administrative positions in the executive and legislative branches; and
WHEREAS, the County Physician and Assistant County Physician positions are the only
appointive positions in the executive branch that have pay rates established by the Salary Ordinance;
and
WHEREAS, Section 7.02(a) of the Salary Ordinance 07-76 lists the physician classes of work
and their respective pay grades.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Section 3 (A) of Salary Ordinance No. 07-76 be amended as follows:
SECTION 3. Rate of Compensation. (A) There shalt be [ate-e~esteti~e] a pay plan covering
appointive executive/administrative positions. Employees occupying positions covered by this
[~~~~e] pay plan shall be paid at rates of compensation set forth in the following schedules at the
pay grade fixed and established by section 7 of this ordinance or any amendatory resolution. The
mayor, for positions in the executive branch, and the council chair, for positions in the legislative

may appoint an employee at any step on the schedule and may move an employee at a rate

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Section 7.02 (a) of Salary Ordinance No. 07-76 be
amended as follows:
Section 7.02 (a) COUNTY PHYSICIAN.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this new rate of compensation for the County Physician
and the Assistant County Physician be effective December 1, 2007 to coincide with the compensation
adjustments of the other executives whose pay is set by the Salary Commission.

Management, the Director of Finance, and the Director of Human Resources.
