Re: Operating Budget ca
The Hilo Salvation Army, through the State of Hawai'i Attorney General's Office, has received
funds through the State Legislature Act 40, Session Laws of Hawai'i 2004, designated for the
Pahoa Weed & Seed program. The Hilo Salvation Army is now awarding an additional
$100,000 to the Hawai'i County Police Department to perform certain services related to law
enforcement noted in the Pahoa Weed & Seed proposal. Earlier this year, the Hilo Salvation
Army had awarded $67,325 to this program. The Police Department will be using these funds
for using these funds for overtime, travel to informational conferences, and to purchase
equipment, such as radar trailer, covert/wireless surveillance system, LCD projector, computer,
cameras, portable screen and crime mapping software to assist with the objectives of this
program.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the receipt and expenditure of the Hilo Salvation Army's
award of $100,000 and a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by
appropriating this award.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawai'i County Police
Department.
