Dear Chairman Hoffmann and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawai'i Environmental
Management Commission:
Council District 7 - Stanley A. Boren, a retiree, is a nine-year resident of Hawai'i. Mr. Boren is
on the Board of Directors of the Bridge House Facility, a tutor with the Kona Literacy Council
and a member of Friends for Fitness. He states that he is a member of the Democratic Party. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2012, replacing Ms. Marjorie Erway
whose term will expire on December 31, 2007.
Council District 8 - Steven Okoji is a 32-year resident of Hawai'i. Since 1997, he has been
employed by the State Department of Health, working in the Solid Hazardous Waste Branch
(1997-1998), the Hazardous Evaluation Emergency Response (Remedial Project Manager
1998-1999), the Clean Air Branch (1999-2004) and the Sanitation Branch (Registered
Sanitarian, 2004 - present). Mr. Okoji states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2012, replacing Carolyn A. Witcher
whose term will expire on December 31, 2007.
