Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 845, reports as follows:
Communication No. 845, transmitted by William Takaba, Director of Finance, dated
December 3, 2007, authorizes the acceptance of monetary donation from Mr. Hermann Fernandez to be
used for materials and construction costs towards the completion of the Kamehameha Pazk Basketball
courts. The value of this donation is $2,777.16.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County,
may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift
which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted
to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Hermann Fernandez at P. O. Box 293, Haws, Hawaii 96719,
acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of Communication No. 845.
