WHIP AT LARGE
The Honorable Bob Jacobson
Councilmember
Hawaii County Council
25 Aupuni St #200
Hilo, HI 96720-4245
Dear Council ,Ober Jacobson,
00*
Thank you for sending me a copy of Resolution 4107, urging legislators to support
publicly funded elections. I agree with the goal of the resolution.
I am a cosponsor of H.R. 1614, the Clean Money, Clean Elections Act, which creates a
voluntary system for public financing of congressional campaigns. This bill gives
candidates an option to forego private funding and provides primary and general election
funding for participating candidates, free and discounted rates on broadcast
advertisements, and matching funds for those who are outspent by privately funded
opponents. The bill has been referred to the House Committees on Administration,
Energy and Commerce, Ways and Means, and Oversight and Government Reform.
I appreciate hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Mazhiron
Member of Congress
