RESOLUTION NO. 519 08
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $5,000 TO
THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Fairways at Mauna Kea North Homeowners Association has donated $5,000 to the
Hawaii Fire Department, in appreciation for the rapid response and dedication displayed by the department's
firefighters during the recent fires that occurred near the Mauna Kea Resort; and
WHEREAS, the funds are earmarked for the purchase of equipment, supplies, and other work related
needs for the South Kohala Fire Station; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts this monetary donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to the
Ms. Kathy Cooley, Vice President of Hawaii Operations, Certified Management, Inc., Agent for Fairways at
Mauna Kea North Homeowners Association, 75-169 Hualalai Road, Kailua-Kona Hawaii 96740
acknowledging this donation.
