Re: Monetary Donations to the Hawai'i Fire Department
The Hawai'i Fire Department has received two (2) monetary donations, totaling $7,500. The first
donation is for $5,000 and was given by the Home Owners of the Fairways at Mauna Kea North
Homeowners Association, 75-169 Hualalai Road, Kailua-Kona Hawai'i 96740, in appreciation for
the rapid response and dedication displayed by the department's firefighters during the recent
fires that occurred near the Mauna Kea Resort. These funds are earmarked for the purchase of
equipment, supplies, and other work related needs for the South Kohala Fire Station.
The other donation, for $2,500, from the Edmund C. Olson Family Foundation, 11560 Tennessee
Avenue, Los Angeles, California, 90064-1513 is for the Pahala Volunteer Fire Department. This
donation will be used to purchase much needed protective fire gear, for the Pahala Volunteer Fire
Department, which is one of many Volunteer Fire Units which operate under the direction of the
Hawai'i Fire Department.
Enclosed are two (2) resolutions authorizing the acceptance of each of the aforementioned
donations and a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the total
donated amount of $7,500 into the newly created account titled "Fire Department Miscellaneous
Private Contributions".
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawai'i Fire Department.

Dear Chief Oliveira,
I am sending this letter, along with a donation in the amount of $5,000.00 on behalf of the Home
Owners of the Fairways At Mauna Kea North Association at the Mauna Kea Resort.
The Homeowners wanted to show their heart felt gratitude for the rapid response and dedication
that your Fire Fighters displayed during the recent fires that occurred near the Mauna Kea
Resort.
As I am sure you are aware, there were two fires that were within feet of some of the homes at
Fairways North. The Owners are so grateful for the diligence that the various fire departments
that responded provided, in particular, they wish to acknowledge the South Kohala Station. This
department continues to provide unparalleled service to the resort owners.
Therefore the Fairways at Mauna Kea North Home Owners would like to present a donation to
the South Kohlala Fire Department. This donation can be used for equipment, supplies and other
work related needs.
Thank you for your consideration in accepting this donation. Should you have any questions,
please contact me at 808-329-6063 x6 or via email at Kathy@cer ifiedhawaii.com.
Sincerely on Behalf of the Fairways At Mauna Kea North Home Owners,
