GMO coffee would contaminate one of Hawaii's most valuable and distinguished
specialty crops. We have already seen how GMO papaya has injured papaya growers; and that was in a
situation where, because of ringspot virus, an argument could be made in its favor. It was also before
we knew that many buyers in the world would refuse to support the US in its mindless greed and would
simply stop buying our product.

Kona coffee farmers would lose their premium price point, and GMO coffee would collapse the market
for their product since GMO coffee is not a specialty coffee. It would destroy a thriving industry by
kowtowing to the self-serving aims of a few short-sighted individuals. Please continue to support
Resolution 463-08.
