Dear Chairman Hoffmann and Members of the Council:
Since our keiki are unable to be advocates for themselves, we, the Board, staff; and parents of Ka Hale O Na
Keiki Preschool wish to thank you for recognizing the critically important job our school is doing for the
children of the Hamakua Coast by your supporting Resolution #436-07.
For our own County Council to recognize the grave importance of the Hamakua Coast having a preschool,
and seeing that the future of Ka Hale O Na Keiki is insured by supporting Resolution #436-07 is both
outstanding and commendable. Our Nation is just beginning to understand the importance of a quality early
childhood education and the benefits that not only the child, but the entire community receives from such an
education, including a higher percentage of high school graduates, lower crime rates, lower illegal drug use,
and a lower rate of teenage pregnancy. They recognize the importance, but you members of our Council are
actually doing something about it!
As the only preschool in Honokaa, and one of only a few preschools State-wide that have been awarded
Nationally Accreditation, we are proud that we are providing such a quality service to our community, and
honored and thankful that our Council members recognize the critical need Ka Hale O Na Keiki meets.
