Yoar Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 472-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 472-08, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 894, dated December 20, 2007, creating aTraffic-Drafting Technician Position and a Traffic
Technician II Position for the Department of Public Works' Traffic Division.
Traffic Division Chief, Ron Thiel stated to Your Committee that these positions is part of his
budget for next year, however, realized that the positions were needed sooner, this measure was
brought forth to create these two positions for the Department of Public Works, Traffic Division.
Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-1.3(c), Hawaii County Charter, states that the Mayor has the
power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the Council."
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 472-08,
and recommends its adoption.
