We would like to proposed an amendment the above-mentioned Bill by replacing on
Exhibit B the words "Circle Island and Bridges Program" to "Principal Streets and
Bridges Program". It has come to our attention that Circle Island was identified in a
prior ordinance and was too restrictive because it named specific streets. To avoid
confusion, we are replacing that term to Principal Streets to allow greater flexibility in the
use of the money on the major roads that needs resurfacing the most.
Attached is our amended draft.
We apologize for any confusion that this may have caused.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 07-83, AS AMENDED,
RELATING TO PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND FINANCING THEREOF
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2007 TO JUNE 30, 2008.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 07-83, as amended, Relating to Public Improvements
and Financing Thereof for the Fiscal Year July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008, is hereby
amended by establishing the program appropriations listed on the attached Exhibit B.
SECTION 2. Funds for these projects shall be provided from the lapsed fuel tax
funds for various appropriations established by Ordinances No. 00-139, 01-26, 01-105,
03-62, 03-165, and 04-131, as shown on Exhibit A.
SECTION 3. If any provision of this ordinance is held invalid, such invalidity shall
not affect other provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect
without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
