RESOLUTION NO. 526 08
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $500 TO THE
HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Ms. Sara (Sally) Schuff, experienced a pulmonary embolism while snorkeling at Kahalu'u
Beach in Kona on Sunday, January 6, 2008; and
WHEREAS, she received life-saving care from Water Safety Officer Sean Gallagher and in
appreciation of these services, which were vital for her favorable outcome, she is donating $500 to support the
Ocean Safety program, under the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts the $500.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to Ms. Sara (Sally) Schuff,
520 N Street SW, Washington D.C. 20024, acknowledging this donation.
