SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
OMAO STREET BETWEEN KAUMANA DRIVE AND EAST ULUWAI
STREET
PROPOSED 15 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 2, Moving Vehicles
Section 24-253.1, Schedule 1.1, 15 mile per hour limit, subsection (c) South Hilo be amended by
adding new item:
OMAO STREET, FROM KAUMANA DRIVE TO A POINT SIX HUNDRED
FEET IN THE SOUTHEASTERLY DIRECTION.
The need for this amendment is based on a request made by Officer Derr of the Hawaii County
Police Department in an attempt to increase safety for motorists and pedestrians, particularly
along the narrow portion of this road.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject amendments. Should you
