Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 486-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 486-08, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 925, dated January 7, 2008, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of
more than one fiscal year for amulti-year lease of office space in Waimea, to enter into a 10-year
lease with Waimea Retail, LLC for office space at Pazker Ranch Center for a new satellite
Vehicle Registration and Licensing center, and to consolidate the new office and the Waimea
Prosecutor's and County Council Offices in a single location. The facility will provide
centralized services for the Waimea community as well as the surrounding communities, and will
house 15 to 20 County employees.
Pursuant to Section 10-I 1, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by
resolution.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 486-08,
and recommends its adoption.
