Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 488-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 488-08, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 220 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 927, dated January 7, 2008, authorizing the acceptance
of a monetary donation of $68 to the Hawaii Fire Department donated by Edward J. and Jan S.
Comstock.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. & Mrs. Edward J. Comstock, Hale Kahakai, Unit 405,
2405 Kalanianaole Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 488-08,
and recommends its adoption.
