Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 930, reports as follows:
Communication No. 930, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated January 7, 2008, nominate
Sara B. Moon of Council District 4 to the County of Hawaii Public Access, Open Space and
Natural Resources Preservation Commission.
Ms. Moon presently is the co-chair of the Sierra Club Moku Loa Group Outings. She is the Leleiwi
Community Volunteer Coordinator, and the Volunteer Technical Director of both the Hilo Chinese
New Year Festival and the Hawaii World Heritage Festival. She is not affiliated with any political
party. If confirmed, Ms. Moon will serve a term to end on December 31, 2012, and will be
replacing Benedict Yung, whose term expired on December 31, 2007.
Pursuant to Article XIV, Section 14-5, Hawaii County Charter, there shall be a board of ethics,
consisting of five members who shall be residents of the County, appointed by the mayor with the
approval of the Council.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Sarah B. Moon to the Hawaii
County Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Commission to serve a term
ending December 31, 2012.
