SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
ALL-WAY STOP SIGNS ON ALN DRIVE AT LUNAPULE ROAD AND,
ROYAL POINCIANA INTERSECTIONS
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 2, Section 24-264,
Schedule 12 (Stop intersections), subsection (f) Kona, of the Hawai'i County Code, 1983 (2005
Edition) be amended by adding new items:
ALII DRIVE, LUNAPULE ROAD INTERSECTION, ALL APPROACHES
ALII DRIVE, ROYAL POINCIANA DRIVE INTERSECTION, ALL APPROACHES
With the Mamalahoa Highway Bypass opening, these two intersections are warranted for traffic
signals in a Traffic Impact Analysis Report, by Wilson Okamoto Corporation. The "Manual On
Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) in Section 2B.07 Multiple Stop Applications"
allows the installation of multiple stops as an interim measure that can be installed quickly to
control traffic while arrangements are being made for the installation of the traffic control signal.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject amendment. Should you
