Comm. 996: APPLICATIONS FROM NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS FOR COUNTY GRANT
FUNDING FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009
From Finance Director William Takaba, dated February 5, 2008, submitting the
qualifying applications from nonprofit organizations pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 25,
Hawaii County Code, for the Council's review and appropriation of funds for inclusion in
the Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 2008-2009. Forty-four (44) organizations have
submitted applications for 67 programs, totaling $3,219,594. Attaches a list of
organizations, the program titles, and amount requested, including three (3) that were
ruled ineligible.
Comm. 996.1: CREATION OF AN AD-HOC COMMITTEE FOR A REVIEW PROCESS FOR
APPLICATIONS RECEIVED FOR COUNTY GRANTS BY NONPROFIT AGENCIES
FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009
From Human Services and Economic Development Committee (HSEDC) Chair Emily
Naeole, dated February 6, 2008, requesting time to create an ad-hoc committee pursuant
to Hawaii Revised Statutes §92-2.5 that will oversee the upcoming grant-in-aid process
to be undertaken by the Human Services and Economic Development Committee.

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes (hereinafter "HRS") § 92-3.5, the
Hawaii County Council Committees will be conducting their February 20, 2008 meetings via
videoconference. Councilmembers will be present at the following locations:
County Councilroom -Ben Franklin Tower, 2"d Floor, 333 Kilauea Avenue, Hilo, HI 96720
Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa, 78-128 Ehukai Street, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.
Videoconferencing is available at the following locations:
• Hilo Councilroom at the Ben Franklin Building, Second Floor; and
• Waimea Council Office at the Holomua Center.
Videoconferencing from the Pahoa Neighborhood Facility will not be available. If for technical or other
unanticipated circumstances the video connection cannot be made and/or is disrupted, the scheduled
meeting will continue.
Submitting Testimony: Those wishing to testify in person must register with the County Clerk's staff.
Those submitting written testimony at the meeting should bring £fteen (15) copies for distribution.
Testimony may also be submitted (1) by mail to the County Clerk's Office in Hilo at 25 Aupuni St.,
Hilo, Hawaii, 96720; (2) by facsimile to (808) 961-8912; or (3) by e-mail to
counciltes7imonyCa~o.hawaii.hi.us. Please submit separate testimony for each item. For testimony
received via e-mail or fax, copies will be distributed at the meeting when transmitted in a timely
manner. All oral and written testimony will be made a part of the public record.
