Dear Chairman Hoffmann and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Amos Meyers, Jr. of Council District 6 to the Hawai'i
County Transportation Commission. Mr. Meyers isasix-year resident of Hawai'i. From 1968
to 1998, he was employed by the East Pennsboro Area School District in Enola, Pennsylvania as
a teacher and an administrator.
Mr. Meyers is currently a member of the Ka'u Sal and Water Conservation District, and the
Hawai' i County Committee on Aging. He is a volunteer at the Volcanoes National Park and
helps with various community activities at Volcano's Cooper Center. If confirmed, Mr. Meyers
will serve a term to end on December 31, 2012, replacing Mr. John Lockwood, whose term
expired on December 31, 2007.
