Re: Ordinance to Amend Capital Budget
Enclosed is an ordinance to add the Waiakea Houselot Resurfacing project as
an Engineering Division Project within the South Hilo Fuel Tax District. The
affected streets include Kalanikoa, Laukapu, Hinano, Mililani, Nahale Way,
Lanikaula, Hualani, Leilani, Manono and Kawili.

A. REQUEST:
Amendment to Ordinance Bill 97-134 to add Waiakea House Lots Sewers,
Phase II project. Work to include the resurfacing of various streets in
the Waiakea Houselots area. Estimated cost for this portion of work is
$250,000.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Bids for the Waiakea Houselots Sewers, Phase It project was opened in
February 1998. Resurfacing of the various streets which would be
affected by the project was included as an additive bid item. The
affected streets include Kalanikoa Street, Laukapu Street, Hinano
Street, Mililani Street, Nahale Way, Lanikaula Street, Hualani Street,
Leilani Street, Manono Street and Kawili Street. The Wastewater
Division has indicated that they do not have adequate funds for the
resurfacing and therefore ask for Engineering Division participation.
