Aloha Councilman Yagong: COLW Y 4: HIIWINI
I wish to lend my name and support to the acquisition of additional land for the Honoka'a
Arena. Although I am not a horsewoman myself, I work with 2 programs that utilize the
arena - the weekly GABI therapeutic riding program and the Hawaii Island Cutting Horse
Association, which uses the arena for both informal practice and monthly shows. Both
programs are a positive influence on both adult and, particularly, youth members.
As a school social worker, I am acutely aware of the lack of pro- social afterschool
activities availably to the youth of our community.
A larger arena or warm-up area would greatly enhance both program's ability to serve more
members.
