Testimony for Consideration by the County Council on January 8, 2008
Dear Council Members,
I totally support your voting in favor of a resolution which supports S.B. 958 S.D. 1 H.D. 1 to impose a
ten year moratorium on developing, testing, propagating, growing, cultivating and raising any
genetically modified TARO in the State of Hawaii.
It is unthinkable how dangerous it is to meddle with our native taro crop, one of Hawaii's most
important, nutritious and traditional basic foodstuff.
Many thanks for your thoughtful consideration of the need to protect the aina by such measures.
