Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 519-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 519-08, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 520-08, and Bill No. 231, by
Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 985, dated January 22, 2008,
authorizing the acceptance of a monetary donation of $5,000 to the Hawaii Fire Department
from the Home Owners of the Fairways at Mauna Kea North Homeowners Association for the
purchase of equipment, supplies, and other work related needs for the South Kohala Fire Station.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Fairways at Mauna Kea North Homeowners
Association, 75-169 Hualalai Road, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740, acknowledging their generous
donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 519-08,
and recommends its adoption.
