Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 520-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 520-08, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 519-08, and Bill No. 231, by
Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 985, dated Januazy 22, 2008,
authorizing the acceptance of a monetary donation of $2,500 to the Hawaii Fire Department
from the Edmund C. Olson Family Foundation, for purchase of protective fire gear for the Pahala
Volunteer Fire Department.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Edmund C. Olson Family Foundation, 11560
Tennessee Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90064-1513, acknowledging their generous
donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 520-08,
and recommends its adoption.
