Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the
Hawaii County Transportation Commission:
• Kathleen F. Baker of Honokaa (Council District 1) is a
seven year resident of Hawaii, and since 1996 has been
self-employed as a paralegal/consultant. Prior to that,
she was employed by Terrance R. Shumaker, Esq. (1990-1996).
She is active with the Hamakua Business Association and the
Hamakua Action Committee. Ms. Baker is a Democrat.
• Helen T. Tayamen of Naalehu (Council District 6) is a
lifetime resident of Hawaii, and since 1991 has been
employed as a packer at Punalu'u Bakery. She is active in
the Ka'u Hawaiian Civic Club, the ILWU Unit 1414, and the
Naalehu School PTA. Mrs. Tayamen is a Democrat.
If approved, Ms. Baker will serve a term to end December 31, 2000,
and Mrs. Tayamen's term will end on December 31, 2002.
