Re: Resolution for an inter-governmental agreement with the County of Maui
The real property administrations of the four (4) counties realize that they have common
concerns and need to support each other. At various times the counties have assisted
each other by providing needed services or expertise. Maui County is currently
experiencing a backlog in their abstracting program, which negatively affects their ability
to accurately process real property taxes. Our Real Property Tax Division abstractors
are current on processing ownership changes and may periodically have time available
to assist County of Maui during the next six months. County of Maui will pay for all
related labor costs, and at no time will work on their properties take priority over County
of Hawai'i responsibilities.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a six-month
intergovernmental agreement with the County of Maui for Hawai'i County Real Property
Tax Division staff to provide abstracting services to Maui County as time permits.
