RESOLUTION NO. 552 08
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO
ENTER INTO AN INTER-GOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF
MAUI TO PROVIDE LIMITED ASSISTANCE FOR REAL PROPERTY MAPPING.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, due to a sharp increase in development and real property sales occurring on
the County of Maui, the County of Maui, Department of Finance, Real Property Tax Division
(hereinafter "County of Maui"), has requested the assistance of the County of Hawaii,
Department of Finance, Real Property Tax Division (hereinafter "County of Hawaii"), on a
limited basis; and
WHEREAS, the County of Maui requests that the County of Hawaii assist the County
of Maui in the abstracting and data entry necessary to update the County of Maui's real property
tax mapping system for asix-month period; and
WHEREAS, the County of Maui will compensate the County of Hawaii for services
and costs based on actual labor hours in an amount not to exceed TWENTY-FOUR
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($24,500.00); and
WHEREAS, it is understood between the County of Maui and the County of Hawaii
that performance of the above services shall be as is available to the County of Hawaii without
detracting the County of Hawaii from its own duties of servicing the County of Hawai`i's real
property tax system; and
WHEREAS, based on the short duration of the agreement and temporary availability of
time of the mapping section, the agreement can be completed without disruption of to the County
of Hawaii real property tax system; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Governmental Employees Association (hereinafter "HGEA"),
represents the mapping section employees; and
WHEREAS, the HGEA has been informed of this agreement and has not indicated any
opposition to the County of Hawaii performing this service on a limited and temporary basis;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, as amended, an
inter-governmental agreement must have the consent of the Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII, that pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, as amended, the Council
of the County of Hawaii hereby grants consent and authorizes the Mayor to enter into an
agreement with the County of Maui to provide limited assistance for real property mapping.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be transmitted to:
(I) Mayor Harry Kim; (2) Director of Finance William Takaba; (3) Maui County Real Property
Tax Administrator Scott Teruya, 70 East Ka`ahumanu Avenue, Suite A-16, Kahului, Hawaii
96732; and (4) County of Hawaii Real Property Tax Administrator Stanley A. Sitko.
