SUBJECT: Transmitting Proposed Floor Amendment to Bill 248
Attached please find an amendment to Bill 248, relating to placing stop signs at Ali`i Drive and
Kaleiopapa Street.
This draft contains an amendment to Bill 248 to reflect the correct name of Ali`i Drive instead of
Ali`i Highway and add the `okina to Ali`i, and reads as follows (double quotation marks are
intentional, to illustrate proposed amendment to add quotation marks within SECTION 1 of Bill
248):

Ramseyer format is applied against the text of Bill 248. The proposed amendment is
incorporated into an attached draft of Bill 248, Draft 2, with Ramseyer format applied to the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended).

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
(2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 10, division 2, section 24-264, schedule 12 (Stop
intersections), subsection (f) Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as
amended), is amended by adding the following, to be appropriately numbered and to read as
follows:
Ali`i Drive Kaleiopapa Street intersection, all approaches."
SECTION 2. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is
underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and stricken
material and underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 3. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any
person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
