Your Committee on Public Works & Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred in
Communication 1011, regarding Bi11242, reports as follows:
Bill 242, transmitted by Council Member Dominic Yagong, via Communication No. 1011, dated
February 7, 2008, amends Chapter 24, Article 11, Division 2, Section 24-308, Schedule 12, of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), by adding Old Sugar Mill Road and Old
Railroad Way, in the Hamakua District, to Schedule 12, Relating to Through Streets.
There was one testimony from the public supporting the proposed amendment.
Council Member Dominic Yagong stated that adding Old Sugar Mill Road and Old Railroad Way, in
the Hamakua District to Schedule 12 will provide the regulation and enforcement of the traffic code by
our Hawaii Police Department. Council Member Yagong seeks the support of his colleagues on this
proposed amendment.
Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Bill 242, and recommends it pass first reading.
