Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 526-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 526-08, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 238, by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 999, dated January 31, 2008, authorizes the acceptance
of a monetazy donation of $500 to the Hawaii Fire Department Ocean Safety Program, from
Ms. Sara Schuff of 520 N Street SW, Washington D. C. 20024. Ms. Schuff experienced a
pulmonary embolism while snorkeling at Kahalu`u Beach in Kona. The life-saving caze she
received from Water Safety Officer Sean Gallagher was vital in her favorable outcome.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council,
on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 526-08,
and recommends its adoption.
