SUBJECT: Transmitting Bill 258, Draft 2
An Ordinance Amending Chapter 2 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005
Edition, as amended) Relating to Campaign Mailing Restrictions
Attached please find Draft 2 of Bill 258, relating to Campaign Mailing Restrictions. This draft
amends subsection (b) of the proposed new section by replacing a reference to the "ethics
commission" with the proper reference to the "board of ethics." This amendment was adopted
by the Council's Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations during its
meeting on March 11, 2008.
For illustrative purposes, this change to draft I is ramseyered in the following text:
"(b) Any violation of this section constitutes use of government funds for
campaign purposes, and shall be subject to any penalty, as authorized by
law, including an administrative fine not to exceed $1,000, for each
violation, as the board of ethics [eexm3issien] may determine."
