Subject: Proposed amendment to Resolution 570-08
Attached for your consideration is a proposed amendment to Resolution No. 570-08, Draft 1,
relating to the funding of the West Hawaii Veterans' Cemetery Development and Expansion
Association. This draft contains minor house keeping amendments to Draft 1, which the
apostrophe in Veteran's was misplaced. The proposed amendment changes it to Veterans' and
is ramseyered and shown in bold font in the attached proposed draft 2.

A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S).
WHEREAS, the West Hawaii (Veter-mss] Veterans' Cemetery Development and
Expansion Association (WHVC) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that is dedicated to our
veterans; and
WHEREAS, the federal government recently completed an estimate for the expansion to
the West Hawaii jV*tera"j Veterans' Cemetery by providing an additional 300 burial sites,
which will expand the cemetery northward and add a new columbaria area, a committal service
shelter, maintanence building, cremains area, scattering garden, walkways, road, and a restroom;
and
WHEREAS,. WHVC is requesting financial assistance to purchase flagpoles and flags,
while the federal government will provide holes and sleeves for the flagpoles, and
WHEREAS, the purchase includes 12-25 feet telescoping, collapsible, and portable,
three sets of 4 feet x 6 feet nylon U.S. flags (one set ceremonial, two sets for regular use), one
POW/MIA flag, and one flag of each of the six services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast
Guard, and Merchant Marines); and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation, to be used towards the West Hawaii [VeteFan-'s]
Veterans' Cemetery Development and Expansion for financial assistance to provide the
cemetery with twelve (12) flagpoles, and flags; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI61 that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
