Dear Chairman Hoffmann and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Gary Yoshiyama of Council District 2 to the
County of Hawai'i Merit Appeals Board. Mr. Yoshiyama is a fifty-seven year
resident of Hawai'i. He worked as a union representative for HGEA and is
currently a member of the County of Hawai'i's Liquor Adjudication Board.
Mr. Yoshiyama formerly served as a member of the County of Hawai'i's Liquor
Commission, the Workforce Development Board, and the Charter Commission.
Mr. Yoshiyama states that he is a registered Democrat. If confirmed, he will
serve a term to end on December 31, 2012, replacing one of two members
whose terms expired on December 31, 2007.
