The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has been awarded $101,902 from two separate
federal grant sources from the State of Hawai'i Department of the Attorney General, for its
Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Prosecution Project. This project is already
included in the current fiscal year's budget, under the Violence Against Women account,
but with an appropriation of only $75,000. Thus, the appropriation needs to be increased
by $26,902.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget and increasing the Violence
Against Women account by $26,902 and bringing the total appropriation to $101,902.

A. REQUEST:
Requesting a bill to increase appropriation of the Violence Against Women account to $101,902, an
additional $26,902 over the amount appropriated through the budget process.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Prosecuting Attorney's Office has been awarded $101,902 from two separate federal grant sources
from the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General for the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
Prosecution Project. Through the budget process $75,000 was appropriated for this project under the
Violence Against Women account. We need to increase the appropriation by $26,902.
