I am a senior at Kealakehe High School. I am in support of Bill 224. I want the smoking in our state to be limited because it is bad for the health of the public. I am supportive to help this tobacco thing to be stopped in Hawaii. My name is Jamie Parker and I'm a junior at Kealakehe High School. I want Bill 224 to pass because secondhand smoke is such a dangerous hazard to our health. Cigarette butts make the beaches a not clean environment. Children and fish think cigarette butts are food and eat them. Eating the chemicals found in cigarettes is not good. Being a young Hawaii girl that has lived here all my life, going to the beach is a part of life. When there are people on the beaches smoking, it's really hard to enjoy nature's beauty. It would really change things in some really good ways if we passed Bill 224. I am a junior at Kealakehe High School. I want Bill 224 to be passed. I want it to be illegal for people to smoke on the beach and litter the aina. I want this because cigarettes are poison! If Bill 224 is passed we would have much cleaner, beautiful, SAFER beaches. Our keiki wouldn't have to see so much smoking and so they would be less likely to use tobacco themselves. You wouldn't allow TOXIC WASTE to be dumped on the beaches. So please don't allow tobacco smoke and cigarettes butts to litter our beaches either. Malama the aina. Malama the keiki. Mahala the world! I am fourteen years old and a freshman at Kealakehe High School. I'm writing this testimony in support of Bill 224 because I really want to stop the use of cigarettes on beaches and in parks. Please say YES to Bill 224 and stop the hazards of cigarettes butts and secondhand smoke on our beaches. I am a senior at Kealakehe High School and I surf and go to the beach often. I would like for this bill prohibiting smoking on our beaches passed. I would like this bill to pass because I surf and go the beaches. I hate to see it trashed with cigarette buds because everyone goes to the beach to get fresh air and have fun with their ohana. By having smokers around you don't feel clean and it disturbs the BBQ ohana vibe. Most smokers don't even kuleana their opala and leave it for others to clean. Please pass this Bill 224 to stop the smoking on our beaches. If we want Hawaii to stay beautiful, radiant, clean, and a fun place for our families we need to keep the dirty cigarette opals out of here. I am a senior attending Kealakehe High School. I also have asthma. I don't go to the beach much or parks but if Bill 224 was passed people who have asthma that go to beaches and parks will have less of a chance of getting asthma attacks because of secondhand smoke. I want everyone to live healthy lives with no secondhand smoke around. I am a senior and also a Peer Education Student at Kealakehe High School. I am submitting testimony in support of Bill 224 to stop the use of tobacco in parks and on our beaches. I want this to happen so bad because my father used to smoke every single day and actually I was a secondhand smoker. I feel strongly about passing Bill 224 because it will protect me and my family and our environment. So I ask you please help Hawaii a safe and even more beautiful place for us. I'm a senior at Kealakehe High School. I am in support of Bill 224. Secondhand smoke is extremely dangerous and very unhealthy for everyone. I believe it shouldn't be allowed in places like beaches and parks where everyone is trying to enjoy a nice day. I feel Bill 224 should be passed because it won't only protect the children in Hawaii from deadly toxins but it will also help the environment and help keep Hawaii clean. My name is Caroline Davis. I am a junior at Kealakehe High School. I am a believer in having smoke-free beaches and support Bill 224 because I want to be able to go to the beach without having a hard time to breathe, or smell and see cigarette butts all over the beach. I hate toxic litter. It's nasty! I also want this Bill 224 to pass because it would be good for everyone. We would be able to enjoy ourselves and have a good day knowing we won't be the next victim of getting cancer or the next person to get black lungs from secondhand smoke. I strongly support Bill 224 to prohibit the use to tobacco products at all Hawaii county parks and beaches. I want Bill 224 to be passed because the cigarette butts are extremely dangerous to small children who play on the beach with the sand or who play at the parks. I would also like Bill 224 because when smoking is exposed in public areas younger children may thinks it's okay to smoke when really its hazardous and not okay. We have already passed the no smoking in restaurants or near businesses, now it's time to please step up and pass Bill 224 because the beaches and parks are a place where people come to relax and have fun not to choke on cigarette butts or cigarette smoke. My name is Jourdann Ayau and I am a senior at Kealakehe High School. I am a supporter against the use of tobacco products at Hawaii County beaches and parks. I would like to go to the beach and be in a smoke-free environment. It is bad for not only humans but animals too. Our community needs to be smoke-free and butt-free as well. The beaches will become clean. Now the fish we eat may have swallowed a cigarette butt. It also makes it a lot nicer to be able to relax without getting secondhand smoke. I strongly encourage our county to pass the no smoking at beaches and parks Bill 224.
