Subject: TESTIMONY IN SUPPORT OF BILL 224
Hawai?i County Council
Relating To Prohibition of Smoking in Certain Places Council hearing: March 12, 2008
Last month, I offered testimony in strong support of Bill 224, which would prohibit using
tobacco products at all Hawai'i County parks and beaches. I continue to support this
effort.
How many hearings will it take to realize the importance of this bill and how it will
effect our future generation.
Imagine over 130 parks and reactional areas free of tobacco products, and those disgusting
cigratte butts that litter our parks, and our beautiful environment.
Second-hand-smoke is just as deadly as smoking its-self, and for children, elderly and
people with lung disease being in a park where people are smoking is a hazard.
