RESOLUTION NO. 609 OS
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO
A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the St. Joseph High School Grad Night Celebration provides a safe,
secure, and supervised celebration alternative to the traditional graduation parties that involve
underage drinking, illegal substance use, and unsupervised late-night partying that normally
results in drinking and driving, all of which pose a hazard to the community; and
WHEREAS, this alcohol- and drug-free event provides the parents and families of the
graduates with the peace of mind that their child is in a safe and wholesome environment after
graduation; and
WHEREAS, approximately 27 graduates will attend the 2008 St. Joseph High School
Grad Night Celebration, which will be held at the Hilo Yacht Club on Sunday, May 25, 2008,
from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following morning; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth
programs which promote alcohol- and drug-free events, including Project Grad Night
activities; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to be used towards the support of youth programs; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and the Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms
of this resolution.
